Often, we take for granted so many things in life. As cliché as it may sound, it is the simple things in life that we should be grateful for. I realized recently that I had been grateful for many “things”, such as my home, my cars and the like, but what about the things that really matter, such as health, inner-peace, loving relationships, etc? Okay, what does this have to do with green cleaning you say? I’ll get there, I promise.
Five years ago, I took a leap of faith and left the comfort of my corporate job that cuddled me like a blanket, yet similarly could have been the very thing that suffocated me had I remained. It has been a journey so far that has taught me more in those five years about who I really am and what I am capable of than in any of the preceding years before (and no I’m not going to tell just how many years!). Upon leaving the corporate, um shall we say, habitat, I was fortunate enough to take with me my years of negotiation skills, a flair for reading people and situations, the ability to create many spreadsheets and the burning desire to succeed in closing copious amounts of sales. Hey, as far as I was concerned, I was ready to take on the world… or at least the people of Phoenix, Arizona who wanted a green cleaning service!
Little did I know that I would engage in some of the most challenging relationships as well as meet some of the most inspiring employees, associates and clients in my life. Just recently, I met one such person who deeply touched me. She is truly one of the most special clients I have ever had the pleasure to meet, and not because she thinks she is special, but because she believes herself to be ordinary. She is a woman who is living her life to the full, functioning in the most amazing way without what most of us take for granted—our two arms. As she showed me around her home, I was tickled by her sense of humor, her confidence, and was simply impressed by her ability to adapt, and all with a permeating love and respect for herself. She more than moved me as a client, her spirit sang gloriously to my heart of what it is to be a mother, a woman, and a self-loving being.
I left her presence steeped in gratitude for the simple things. Like an angel sent to teach a lesson, I knew that our green cleaning products and services were about more than just scrubbing showers and dusting lampshades. We at Planet Hugger, are here to serve with our hearts and our hands those who genuinely need and desire our tender loving care in their homes. It is for every one of our clients, that I extend much gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
